In order to achieve sustainable supportive housing and improve system flow, we seek to identify key barriers and craft targeted solutions that can be implemented within a realistic timeframe. Some of the key barriers we seek to address are: a) lack of appropriate training on supportive housing operations and trauma informed care for service providers, state agency staff and property management staff; b) lack of continuity of services due to staff shortage and staff turnover; c) lack of timely implementation of programmatic input from persons with lived expertise; and d) lack of sufficient Peer Mentor Programs. It is important to note that central to our discussion will be the significant role that persons with lived expertise will play in crafting solutions. Some of the solutions will involve providing input on staff training design, while some solutions will focus on creating a path towards thriving by providing education and employment opportunities tailored to the individual need at every stage of service delivery process.
