Description

Chicago has been creating innovative opportunities to support economic security for participants by building systemic connections with employment and benefits income interventions. During the presentation, you will learn how Continuum of Care (CoC) stakeholders envisioned programming that built bridges between the workforce, benefits and homeless response/affordable housing system. Learn about how Chicago utilized funding to create an Employment and Income Supports Program that will support the Unsheltered Homelessness Initiative in the Chicago CoC. This program will connect individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness and navigating the housing system, directly to employment, supported employment or benefits support. All Chicago, serving as a system coordinator, will share experiences in how coordinated entry was utilized to determine individuals interested and the need for these services. You will hear from partners providing these services which include Legal Aid Chicago, Legal Council for Health Justice, Of Color Inc, Phalanx Family Services and scale LIT. Together, these agencies bring a diverse set of experiences, connections, and expertise in order to connect individuals experiencing homelessness to the services that will help increase their income stability through the three components of Employment Navigation, Benefits Acquisition and Individual Placement and Supports.
