Julie Nelson has worked in health care, housing, and services for people experiencing homelessness for over 20 years. As Associate Director for the Illinois Team at CSH, Julie works on cross sector initiatives between housing and health care, as well as increasing supportive housing options for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Prior to joining CSH, Julie was Program Director at Together4Health, a Medicaid managed care option for seniors and people with disabilities in Illinois.  In this role she led care coordination implementation and program development with the goals of improved health outcomes, improved participant experience, and reduced costs through addressing social determinants of health and increased activation. In addition to managed care, Julie has extensive experience working in supportive housing, Health Care for the Homeless, and Medicaid and SSI/SSDI eligibility. Julie earned a master’s degree in public health from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
