Susan M. Campbell, Director - Cook County Dept. of Planning and Development (DPD), is responsible for planning and development activity funded by the County's Bureau of Economic Development and sister agencies. Focused on improving the economic climate and creating sustainable healthy communities, DPD invests $96,000,000 in HUD program funds; $30,000,000 in loan funds and other strategies to promote affordable housing and economic growth in the nation's second largest county.
Prior to Cook County, she served as Deputy Director for the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, where she managed a portfolio of community development programs totaling over $300M for Illinois' low income and rural communities.
Prior to that, Ms. Campbell was the Associate Vice President for Civic Engagement/University of Chicago where she created 'Place-Making' initiatives to improve the quality of life in University neighborhoods.
