Danielle Devine is the Executive Director based in Brooklyn for homeless service provider HELP USA. She oversees operations for multiple social service programs in permanent housing. The sites are for formerly homeless individuals and families with severe mental illness and possible co-occurring substance abuse.
Danielle was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Uniondale, NY. Danielle has always shown a passion for human services at a young age. She attained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Queens College in 2012. Shortly after working at a crisis line call center, she embarked on her journey in social work. She attended Adelphi University where she received a Master of Social Work in 2015.
Danielle has over 10 years of clinical experience with working with diverse populations living with mental health issues, substance abuse, and serious medical ailments. She has experience with individual and group counseling utilizing approaches such as CBT and MI (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing). During Danielle’s career she assisted to pilot a successful aftercare program for veterans who could not access services at their local VA (Veterans Administration). The program heavily focused on utilizing CTI (Critical Time Intervention) to render services to the veterans.
Danielle started as a case manager at HELP USA in 2016 providing case coordination and now oversees directors to provide services to residents in need. She currently holds a license for Master of Social Work in New York State. She believes in expansion of services and advocacy for marginalized and vulnerable populations. She actively participates in local rallies that stress the importance of fair pay for human service workers. She is passionate about learning and believes we are all students in life, continually learning new things.
