Description

In the absences of robust Medicaid plans, advocates can work with state administrations and legislatures to create A Supportive Services Transformation Fund (SSTF). SSTF acts as a funding bridge to pay for services until a time when costs are reimbursable through Medicaid. Over time, the state can reduce the SSTF funds as Medicaid reimbursements increase. By creating this funding bridge now, states can more quickly begin to move away from the overreliance on crisis response and institutional settings. Participants will learn about the SSTF model and do a deep dive into two case studies, Nevada and Michigan where advocates were successful in passing a total of $58 million in 2023 and 2024
