Traditional screening used in tenant selection policies can impose high barriers related to credit history, criminal background, eviction records, and previous housing situations. Such screening can potentially violate Fair Housing and prevent access to housing for those who need it the most. In this session, learn about HUD guidance on low-barrier screening, how low-barrier screening increases contributes to more access to housing, and how low-barrier screening has been implemented in supportive housing programs in Indiana.
