When tenants backed by rental assistance were still struggling to find stable housing due to their past rental barriers, such as credit issues, evictions, or lack of rental history, Transition Projects worked to empower participants. They did this with tenant education and teaming up with some unexpected partners, such as screening agencies, tech-for-good companies, eviction courts, state agencies, and property management associations. These collaborations have given case managers and participants the tools needed to navigate the complex world of housing by helping them understand the systems in play and how to overcome roadblocks.
